A coalition event was conducted to understand the CDP (Credit Development Product) and issues in loan disbursement. The discussion highlighted the current gaps among stakeholders from various financial institutions and proposed innovative credit products.

The Regional Enterprise Coalition in Bhadohi took place with the aim of bringing together stakeholders to discuss emergent problems and solutions, as well as to enumerate the State Bank of India Foundation programme.

Two seminars were held on 17 June, and 21 June, 2023, hosted by the Varanasi Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Corporation of Muzaffarnagar, respectively. The seminars marked the official handover of the decentralised wastewater treatment technology called “Taisei Soil System (TSS)”.

Development Alternatives participated in the Adaptation Fund Country Exchange Programme in Indonesia. The highlight of the programme was the field exposure to Pekalongan – a city in the northern coast of the Java Island in Indonesia that is predicted to sink by 2035.

Development Alternatives piloted a sustainability assessment framework in rural clusters in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. It evaluates social, environmental, and financial performance, providing insights for investment decisions.

Water training and awareness sessions were conducted in the Nikoowal village of Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh based on the theme of water quality, sanitation and hygiene and the water quality tests were demonstrated among the community using the Jal TARA water testing kit.

Graduation Ceremony for participants of Skills to Livelihood Project for successfully completing six months training programme in learning an employable skill to match with the demands of present job market. The project also seeks to enhance the technical skills of various individuals, leading to significant improvements in their confidence and self-esteem.

A District Entrepreneurship Coalition (DEC) meeting under Work4Progress was held in Niwari, Madhya Pradesh. The meeting aimed at accelerating enterprise development by bringing together entrepreneurs and stakeholders from banks, government departments, and NGOs.

Development Alternatives was part of a panel discussion at the National Summit on Powering Sustainable Livelihoods to discuss the 5 billion USD potential of Decentralised Renewable Energy (DRE) livelihood technologies through entrepreneurship.

Development Alternatives was a part of the onboarding session organised by Catalyst 2030 to welcome the associate members of the network officially. Becoming a platform member will enable Development Alternatives to join a network of like-minded organisations and exchange knowledge on social innovation.

Development Alternatives’ team visited Niwari in MP, Gurugram in Haryana, and Jodhpur district in Rajasthan to study and document the best-case studies of pond rejuvenation. It was done to analyse its success factors, and evaluate the policy intervention which can further contribute to the Government of India’s mission on Amit Sarovar.

An exposure visit to a solar mini-grid site in Shivpura, Balrampur, was conducted with members of Virangana Lakshmibai Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited of Mihinpurwa, Bahraich, along with the Development Alternatives and the Transforming Rural India Foundation teams.

Development Alternatives took part in a session to discuss and deliberate on Social Innovation and the Social Solidarity Economy. It aimed to showcase the strategic value of the social and solidarity economy (SSE) in policy discussions on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A knowledge sharing training programme was conducted at University of Copenhagen, Denmark, under the project Integrated Water Resource Assessment of Udaipur district for Indian project team researchers. One of the growing urban areas is Udaipur city of Rajasthan, richly endowed with a network of lakes.
