The agriculture sector in India is facing the daunting task of feeding its rapidly expanding population; a task that seems increasingly uphill in the context of multiple challenges of climate change impacts, resource degradation, and competing land demands, amongst others. We work with small and marginal farmers across India to build inclusive and locally sustainable farming models. We seek to bring improvement in the economic well being of farmers through enhanced productivity and profitability.
The project aims to empower communities by forming and strengthening independent groups, developing infrastructure, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. We are working with farmers to build their capacities on organic farming practices WADI model. WADI is agriculture practice where farmers are encouraged to practice multi-layer and multi cropping that not only help in enhancement of income of farmers but also improves soil health with use of limited available resources.
