Solar Mini-Grid Launch

Meeting with families in Mathurapura, Niwari for distribution of electrical components.

08 Aug 2026 NA Mathurapura, Niwari, Madhya Pradesh

Through the Resource Access and Equity programme, Development Alternatives with its partners and supported by Speed Solar, facilitated distribution and installation of reliable household energy infrastructure in Mathurapura. On 8 August 2026, 39 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) households received comprehensive domestic electrical fittings under the project Enhancing Water Resilience in 25 Villages of Niwari District, Bundelkhand.

Prior to the intervention, families relied on haphazard, exposed wiring to draw power, facing daily risks of electrical shocks and short circuits. Under the upgrade, each household received two LED bulb points, a ceiling fan point, and a dedicated charging socket. This transition provided secure infrastructure, directly improving domestic safety, living comfort, and everyday security.

The intervention reflects Development Alternatives’ commitment to ensure equitable access to fundamental resources for vulnerable households beyond conventional project scopes. Building on this success, the initiative is set to scale in the coming month, extending standardised household electrical fittings to 69 additional PVTG families across Chandravan and Sadipura in Niwari.
