29 Jun 2026 to 30 Jun 2026 Full Day Programme Development Alternatives Headquarters, New Delhi

The Society for Technology and Rural Advancement (TARA) successfully conducted a two-day non-residential training programme on Drinking Water Quality Testing using Field Test Kits (FTKs) at the Development Alternatives Headquarters, New Delhi, on 29–30 June 2026. The programme aimed to strengthen the capacities of development practitioners, researchers, and partner organisations in ensuring safe and sustainable drinking water management.

The training brought together 25 participants, including representatives from NGO partner organisations, freelance consultants, and researchers, providing an excellent platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative learning. The sessions covered fundamental concepts of water quality, key physical, chemical, and biological parameters, BIS drinking water standards, practical use of FTKs, water safety planning, risk communication, and community awareness approaches.

Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions, technical demonstrations, group exercises, and hands-on field-testing activities. These practical sessions enhanced their understanding of water quality monitoring procedures, documentation practices, record keeping, and community-based surveillance mechanisms for safe drinking water. The programme also throws light on the importance of effective risk communication and community participation in maintaining water safety and promoting healthy behaviours. Through experiential learning and peer exchange, participants gained valuable insights and practical skills that can be applied in their respective organizations and communities.

TARA sincerely acknowledges the support and contributions of the WASH Institute, facilitators, and all participants for making the programme a successful and enriching learning experience.
