23 Mar 2026 to 28 Mar 2026 9:00 am onwards Falai and Bashti, Rudraprayag, Uttrakhand

Under the Local Institutions & SDG Action programme, Development Alternatives, in partnership with ReNew Jal Urja Ltd., implemented a set of integrated interventions in Rudraprayag, combining Bal/Khel Melas, teacher training sessions, and SIYB (Start and Improve Your Business) training for women from Self-Help Groups.

The Bal Melas, organised across Government Primary Schools in Falai and Bashti, engaged over 100 children through games, storytelling, and participatory activities, creating an environment where learning felt interactive and enjoyable. Alongside this, teacher training sessions and engagement with School Management Committee members, involving over 40 participants, focused on strengthening institutional capacities through activity-based learning approaches, WASH awareness, and community-led school development.

Parallelly, SIYB training was conducted for 60 SHG women in two batches. Delivered by certified ILO trainers, the sessions covered business planning, financial literacy, and marketing strategies through interactive and group-based learning methods. The training created a safe space for women to engage, share experiences, and build confidence to explore livelihood opportunities.

Together, these efforts reflect a cohesive approach to community development—where education, institutional strengthening, and women’s economic empowerment move in tandem. By working with children, educators, and women simultaneously, the initiative strengthens the foundation of resilient, self-reliant communities.
