Brig. Yogesh Kapoor, VSM (Retd.), presenting TARA’s flagship programme, Climator

23 Mar 2026 to 24 Mar 2026 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi

On 24 and 25 March 2026, TARA participated as a special invitee at the National Training Workshop for Award Leaders hosted by the International Award for Young People (IAYP), the Indian chapter of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Bringing together 16 schools from across India, the workshop created a vibrant space for educators to reflect on experiential learning, leadership, and the evolving purpose of education.

TARA was represented by Brig Yogesh Kapoor, VSM (Retd) and Ms Harshita Kaur. Brig Yogesh Kapoor, VSM (Retd) conducted the session. Within this ecosystem, TARA introduced the Climator Programme as a compelling pathway for the Bronze Award, one that reimagines the award journey itself. While the Duke of Edinburgh’s framework traditionally emphasises adventure and personal development, Climator grounds young people in real-world challenges and community contexts.

Structured as a 13-week, action-based journey, Climator enables students to move beyond awareness into action and leadership by engaging with climate realities in their own communities. It positions students not just as participants, but as problem-solvers, understanding local issues, designing solutions, and witnessing the tangible impact of their efforts.

Importantly, Climator was positioned both as a Bronze-level offering within the IAYP framework and as a standalone programme for schools seeking to integrate climate education independently. Being aligned with NCERT curriculum frameworks and NEP 2020, it fits seamlessly into existing academic structures, making it easier for teachers to adopt without additional burden.

In doing so, Climator shifts the narrative from adventure to impact, where student actions contribute to India’s NDCs and the SDGs, empowering them not just to prepare for the future, but to shape it.
