Dr. Vicky (TARA) delivering a presentation on the technology and market readiness of low-carbon cement materials in India, with a focus on the commercial scale-up of LC3.

25 Feb 2026 04:00 pm – 07:00 pm Eros Hotel, New Delhi

A focused roundtable on advancing the uptake of low-carbon construction materials was convened in New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives, financiers, certification bodies, and technical experts to address barriers to large-scale adoption.

Co-organised by The Climate Group and TARA, the dialogue explored practical pathways to scale market-ready alternatives. The first session examined technology readiness and supply-side preparedness. Key insights from the 2026 Roadmap for Cement Sector Decarbonisation were presented, along with reflections on the commercial scale-up of LC3 and the broader readiness of low-carbon cement solutions in India. Dr. Vicky from TARA shared insights on LC3’s commercial journey, highlighting lessons from research to market deployment.

The second session focused on demand-side constraints, including procurement norms, certification frameworks, financing challenges, and perception barriers among developers and contractors. Participants noted that while viable technologies are available, mainstreaming them requires coordinated action across policy, standards, finance, and market incentives.

The discussions underscored that accelerating adoption will depend not only on innovation, but on alignment between regulatory direction, commercial confidence, and industry demand. TARA’s participation reflected its continued role in connecting research, industry practice, and policy engagement to advance low-carbon transitions in the construction sector.
