The true promise of AI lies not merely in advancing models, but in reaching the last mile. That is precisely what we set out to demonstrate at the #AIImpactSummit2026.

Together with Gram Vaani, Development Alternatives showcased its Voice AI Interactive Q&A at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Designed as a voice-enabled, interactive feature, the tool focuses on simplicity, accessibility, and intuitive use — expanding access to entrepreneurship support, especially for women entrepreneurs.

The summit became a powerful platform to carry forward DA’s Mission to Create 1 Million Livelihoods through Entrepreneurship. Over the course of the event, the team engaged in conversations with foundations, ecosystem actors, government representatives, students, and potential collaborators. What began as a stall setup quickly evolved into a meaningful engagement space for discussing scale, access, and real-world AI applications in livelihoods and enterprise development.

A key insight was strongly validated: AI innovation for India must prioritise the interface and access layer, not just technological sophistication. With wide variations in digital literacy across users, inclusive design is not optional; it is foundational. The Voice AI Interactive Q&A resonated strongly with visitors, reinforcing that the real differentiation lies in designing for low-literacy, low-tech contexts rather than focusing solely on advanced models.

The interactions highlighted the relevance of building AI solutions that are accessible, practical, and rooted in the realities of users at the last mile.
