Inauguration ceremony graced by DM Shri Manoj Satyawan Mahajan at Koraput Turmeric Product Cluster Cluster
A proud and historic day unfolded for Farmbook FPC Ltd, the Special Purpose Vehicle of the Koraput Turmeric Processing Cluster, with the inauguration held on 3rd December 2025 at Deogandhana, Machhkund, Koraput. The newly inaugurated state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced curcumin extraction capabilities and is designed to strengthen the turmeric value chain while promoting inclusive entrepreneurship in the region.
The cluster has been established under the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Enterprises (SFURTI) of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, which aims to support traditional enterprises through modern technology, capacity building, and value addition. The initiative was facilitated by the Indian Micro Enterprises Development Foundation (IMEDF), which served as the Nodal Agency. Implementation was carried out by the Integrated Agency for Education, Environment & Technology (IAEET), with technical guidance provided by Inquisite Consultants, and the cluster has been operationalised through Farmbook FPC Ltd as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Collector and District Magistrate, Koraput, Shri Manoj Satyawan Mahajan (IAS), along with several distinguished dignitaries. These included ORMAS Joint CEO Sri Uma Mahesh, Nandapur BDO Durga Prasad Dora, Jayant Nayak (IPO-DIC), Pradeep Kumar Dalai from IAEET (NGO), and Swadhin Kumar Nayak, Director of Farmbook FPC Ltd.
The newly inaugurated processing unit is set to empower over 2,000 turmeric farmers, generate 40 permanent employment opportunities, and significantly enhance the quality, marketability, and reach of turmeric products from the region. Beyond commercial outcomes, the initiative is anchored within an inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem, creating equitable livelihood opportunities for both men and women, with a special emphasis on the tribal population. This approach strengthens community development while advancing social empowerment.
By integrating traditional turmeric cultivation practices with modern processing technology, the cluster ensures sustainable value addition, improved farmer incomes, and stronger rural economies. The initiative is expected to serve as a model for inclusive, technology-driven enterprise clusters across the region, demonstrating how collaboration between government institutions, technical agencies, and local entrepreneurs can deliver meaningful socio-economic impact.
The launch of the Koraput Turmeric Product Cluster marks a significant step forward in farmer prosperity, rural development, and inclusive entrepreneurship, reaffirming the region’s potential to emerge as a hub for high-quality turmeric production and sustainable livelihood generation.
