Job description

    Context and Role

    The Training & Capacity Building Unit (TCBU) at Development Alternatives designs and delivers training programmes and capacity-building interventions across the organisation's sustainability portfolio. As part of the TCBU team, the intern will support research, content development, programme design, and coordination, contributing to the successful delivery of learning initiatives, institutional partnerships, and capacity-building engagements.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Research & Documentation

    • Conduct secondary research on DA's core thematic areas including Climate Resilience, Just Transition, Green Livelihoods, Clean Energy, and Waste & Water Management
    • Assist in drafting policy briefs, concept notes, programme reports, and knowledge documents
    • Compile and synthesise background material to support proposals, pitches, and institutional presentations

    Design & Communications

    • Support the development of one-pagers, proposals, brochures, and decks using Canva and MS PowerPoint
    • Assist with social media content creation for programmes, events, and institutional outreach

    Programme & Business Development Support

    • Assist in developing training programme materials, session resources, and participant-facing content
    • Support business development outreach through partner research, pitch preparation, and follow-up coordination

    General & Project Coordination

    • Attend internal meetings and capture minutes
    • Support coordination with government ministries, PSUs, and corporate stakeholders across active consultancy projects
    • Draft professional correspondence, meeting notes, and stakeholder communications
    • Maintain project trackers, MOM documents, and documentation records
    • Support day-to-day coordination across ongoing workstreams

    Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

    The following prerequisites outline the qualifications, skills and attributes sought for this internship.

    Qualification:

    Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's/master’s degree in development studies, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, Mass Communication, or a related field.

    Experience:

    • Prior exposure to research, content writing, or programme coordination (through internships, coursework, or projects) is desirable but not mandatory
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with Canva or similar design tools.
    • Genuine interest in sustainability, climate, and development sector issues, with a willingness to learn and take initiative
    • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and proven strategic thinking.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with proficiency in English and the ability to work well autonomously.
    • Well organised and efficient, with the capacity to work under pressure.
