Creating Awareness about Organic Farming in Kashipura Village
Under this initiative, Development Alternatives provided high-quality jawar and bajra seeds to the farmers. Three kilograms of seeds were given to each farmer, free of cost, for sowing in an area of three acres. They were told in detail about the use and benefits of the seeds and were also informed regarding the process and technique of seed sowing in the field. Farmers sowed the seeds following the instructions of the DA team. The team also paid a monitoring visit and told farmers about the benefits of organic compost in the fields. Farmers were also told that organic compost might show a slow growth rate for the crops but there would be no harmful chemicals mixed in the crops, which will have a better taste and would be good for health too. Considering all the advantages, farmers agreed to do organic farming on their land. Along with the promotion of organic farming, DA also cleaned and deepened the tank at Kundi Ghat. That helped farmers as they are now able to draw water for their fields from this tank.■
