PUBLICATIONS

WADI: A Photobook

This photobook describes the journey of the WADI establishment process. It covers the scientific principles of agro-ecology that enable an optimal and sustainable utilisation of the productive potential of land, while offering significant ecological co-benefits that help the degraded land to regenerate itself. It also highlights the economic benefits of WADI - enabling small farmers to secure their livelihoods - substantiated through stories of change.

A World We Women Want: A Compendium

This document is an effort to bring to fore the issues related to women on ground and their expectations from the present and future. The good practices and the case studies have been analysed, and efforts have been made to link the ground experiences with UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 5, to "achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls", as a standalone goal, complements and is reinforced in the entire 17 SDG framework.

Climate Adaptive Practices: Case Studies

This report comprises case studies on community based conservation and climate change adaptation methods, from the eight community based flood management states of India - Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odhisha, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttarakhand. The objective of documenting these case studies of grassroots initiatives from a climate adaptive perspective is its potential for replication and scalability.

"Literacy, Women Empowerment and Sustainable Development" by Dr. Alka Srivastava, Senior Programme Director, DA

What does empowerment mean for different women in different situations? What kind of research evidence and knowledge are literacy programmes and policy initiatives building on? What are the things that policy proposals regarding women's literacy need to specifically focus on? This blog throws light on these questions, and emphasises on the need to explore not only 'what works' in practical terms of encouraging women to participate in literacy programmes, but also look at the 'why and how' of literacy programmes' contribution to sustainable development and the processes of empowerment.

Humari Udaan - Wings of Empowerment

This video describes how the TARA Akshar+ Literacy Programme was implemented by DA and UNICEF, in response to the low literacy levels of women across 57 villages in 2 districts of Rajasthan. It aimed at making them functionally literate in just 56 days.

DA has developed 'green building solutions', an excellent example of which is its headquarters in New Delhi. This video takes us through the features of this 'Green Building' - one of the first institutional structures aimed at zero emissions and carbon neutrality in India.
