Fostering Resource Circularity and Efficiency in the Management of Urban Water Systems in India

This issue is a brief on urban water-energy nexus that comments on the potential of resource circularity while enhancing efficiency, equity and resilience of urban water systems. It is based on a study of water flows assessment in tier II cities in India. The objective of the study was to build an understanding of the relationship between the environmental impacts of the urban water systems efficiencies and resource resilience.

Resource Synergies for an Urbanising India

This document highlights the concept of decoupling on which our new Development Alternatives (DA) building is built. The DA building in New Delhi is a classic example of decoupling, showcasing environmentally and economically sound construction solutions. Virgin material was replaced by secondary raw material like fly ash and stone dust, reducing embodied energy by 30%. Development Alternatives has co-branded with Giz, Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation Building and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic of Germany, Heinrich Boll Stiftung, EPFL, and Embassy of Switzerland in India.
