An international training programme on ‘A Livelihoods
Approach for Prevention of Trafficking and Migration’ was
organized at TARAgram, Orchha from August 7 to 9, 2007.
The participants were from
India, Bangladesh and Madagascar. The Resource Persons were
Asha D’Souza (Consultant, ILO, Geneva), Dr KK Mukherjee (GNK,
Ghaziabad), Sudeshna Chatterjee (DA) and Santosh Pathak
(DA).

A training programme on Gender and Development was organized
from August 21 – 25, 2007 for PACS partners from the states
of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
Social Action Group (SAG)

State Quality Monitoring of watershed projects in the
districts of Katni, Saugor and Betul of Madhya Pradesh was
carried out.
·
Piped water supply systems installed in 6 villages from UP
and MP, resulting in availability of clean drinking water to
about 6000 people. |

A one day National
workshop on State of Environment (SoE) reporting in India was
organized by Development Alternatives (DA) and The Energy and
Resources Institute (TERI) with the support from Ministry of
Environment and Forests, Govt. of India on 29th August 2007 at
India Habitat Centre, Delhi. The aim of this workshop was to
identify key challenges to the State of Environment Reporting
process; identify drivers that can trigger and sustain the
process; analyze usefulness of the process and products and;
discuss way forward for SoE reporting in the 11th five year
plan. The workshop was attended by the all the State Govt,
State Host Institutions (SHIs), National Host Institutions (NHIs),
world Bank, UNDP, British Council, IDRC, DFID, MoEF. |

The first Earth
Charter workshop for Delhi school teachers was organized at
the Asola wild life sanctuary on 27th and 28th August 2007.
The interactive workshop was attended by teachers from nearly
40 schools. The CLEAN-India team conducted the workshop and
the active partnership of the BNHS team from the Asola
interpretation centre and the team from Mandala, Delhi and the
farmers team from Uttarakand enriched the programme. Each of
the participant school will be including the Earth Charter
principles and taking up action programmes in their schools. |

Paper:
TARA
paper products are much in demand in the market and are
displayed and sold in malls in Delhi, where these merchandise is
preciation among the discerning customers.
VSBK:
New ISO 9000 vendor finalized for TARA Brick Mech in Bhilai (Chhatisgarh).
The first prototype has been developed and will be sent to
Gujarat for market expansion. TARA Brick Mech will revolutionize
moulding in the brick sector.
Machine:
TARA has re-launched the Mechanized Balram with added features
and sports a new look. There is also demand for the same to
utilize fly ash in large quantities. |

Under the aegis of Rural Entrepreneurship
Development Programme (REDP) supported by NABARD, a selection
committee including members from TARAgram, DIC, KVIC and
Canara Bank met at TARAgram on July 28 2007. The purpose
was to select 14 potential entrepreneurs, on the basis of
personal data of the participants and personal interviews, for a
10-day training programme |

The total number of TARAkendras now stands at 312.
2.
The total number of students graduated from TARA Akshar,
the literacy programme, stands at 7904.
3. The
DA-ISRO VRC setup completed its 100th session. The programme
transmitted through the setup varies from computer
education, career counseling, art and craft, environment,
agriculture, self employment to entertainment.
