NGO
Club/Association
We wish to form
an NGO club on the lines of the Press Club; it could be an association, like
the lawyer’s association and associations of other professional bodies.
Suggestions will be eagerly awaited.
1. It will be a
place where NGO members can meet socially. The meetings can be held at
different venues: members’ homes, offices, wherever convenient.
2. The meetings
shall take place in the evenings after office hours. All will contribute
towards hospitality.
3. The objective is
that NGOs come together in an informal setting. This may lead to sharing of
ideas and networking which can assist in co-ordinated action over important
issues.
4. The stress will
not be talking shop, but relaxing in an amiable environment. If members of
other professions can do so, and have the need for it, so do those working in
NGOs.
5. Anyone who is a
member of an NGO is entitled to membership. Members will be encouraged to
invite others so that the club continues to grow.
6. As far as
possible the NGO club will remain informal in structure and scope.
7. Interaction will
be encouraged among NGOs through a pre-designed programme. For the spectrum
of handicapped, those in animal welfare, to those involved in environmental
and developmental issues.
8. Members of the
third estate _ the print and audio-visual media _ will be welcome to join the
club.
