  • A district level knowledge sharing workshop for the UNDP – Access to Justice Programme held on 2 October 2012 was attended by district level judges.

  • Rabi crop trials have been initiated in 1100 hectares in Pahuj and Datia and demonstration of vegetable cultivation has been initiated in 180 wadis.

  • Solar energy based piped water supply system has been installed in the tribal village of Govindnagar.

SPEED

  • A Rockefeller SPEED Partners Meeting was held on 15 October 2012 at DAWHQ New Delhi with the presence of all the partners.

TARA Livelihood Academy

  • TLA has conducted a 45 days’ training on Cutting and Tailoring in village Dalhan Chowky under DPIP Panna. Total 40 women SHG members have participated in the training session.

  • A Community Training Center was inaugurated in village Sijwaha, Jhansi with for a Beauty Culture and Hair Dressing course.

Technology Management Services

  • A clean Brick Workshop was successfully conducted at Rourkela in association with Regional Industries Centre (RIC), Rourkela

VE-SuRE

  • A knowledge product development workshop was conducted from 18 to 19 October 2012.

  • Power plants have started operations in the Vindhyachal region.

 
 

Innovation Systems Branch (ISB)

 
 
  • Dr K Vijayalakshmi, Vice President, Development Alternatives (DA) represented DA in the side event organised by International Nitrogen Network (INN) at the recently completed COP-11(01-19 October 2012) on Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at Hyderabad. The event highlighted the importance of efficient use of nitrogen in view of its relevance to food security, pollution and ecosystem implications.

  • An awareness workshop on Accelerating Low Carbon Pathways for Climate Change mitigation in India was organised by the Regional Industries Centre, Rourkela in association with Development Alternatives and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, New Delhi. This workshop, organised on 12 October 2012 at Brahmani Club, Rourkela focused on promoting cleaner brick production technologies in the state, especially fly ash brick technology.

  • The NRCDDP Portal was launched on 29 October 2012 at the Planning Commission of India in the UN-JPC National Programme Steering Committee Meeting. Dr Mihir Shah, Member, Planning Commission and Ms Lise Grande, UN Resident Coordinator, India inaugurated and launched the first national online knowledge repository on Decentralised District Planning. This is a National Resource Cell on Decentralised District Planning (NRCDDP) portal (www.nrcddp.org), which has been developed by DA as a current node of NRCDDP.

 
 

Communication Solutions Branch (CSB)

 
 
  • Under the CDKN -Shubh Kal project, a 3-day workshop on ‘Capacity Building of Community Reporters on Climate Change’ was organised from 29 September to 1 October 2012 at TARAgram Orchaa with the participation of the team of Radio Bundelkhand, Lalit Lokwani and local journalists.

  • World Wildlife Week celebrations was organised on 11 October 2012 under the banner of the CLEAN-India Programme at Sanjay Van (a city forest spread over 783 acres near Neela Hauz in south Delhi) with the active participation of more than 100 students from five schools and about ten teachers.

  • A Contract has been signed with Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement (FORCE), a Delhi-based NGO, for the implementation of Water and Sanitation Project (funded by Jochnick Foundation) in 60 schools in northern India.

  • Under the RRS project, a one-day workshop for 25 selected climate change agents, Anganwadi workers and PRI members was organised on 30 October 2012 at TARAgram Orchaa. The objective of the workshop was to sensitise the participants for 25 households based on climate friendly adaptation options.
