Major power generators are NTPC, NALCO, OPGC, SAIL, IMFA, INDAL, JINDAL, among others. Fly ash is freely available in the State. There is a growing trend to invest in fly ash business due to general perception of rising coal prices, labour problem in red brick manufacturing sector and increase in brick prices. In Orissa, there are more than 100 fly ash enterprises that have entered the business during the last one year. TARA Machines launched its fly ash technology portfolio in the market of Orissa in April 2011. TARA Machines has established the technology with machines at Bhuban district of Dhenkanal for M/s R K Bricks and at Pataranga village district of Jajpur for M/s Hara Chandi Fly Ash Bricks. TARA Machines delivers technology solutions to the entrepreneur for better and quality products. Bricks are easily marketable in local areas with reasonable margins. Many more people are interested in setting up of new fly ash brick production units. Hara Chandi, situated at Pataranga village, Korei block near Jajpur, is set up on 26 acres of land. Mr. Nimai Rout, proprietor of Hara Chandi, runs the enterprise adjacent to the new TATA project in Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur, a rapidly developing industrial area. The enterprise was founded in April 2011. He has taken enterprise finance from the State Bank of India. He is currently using fly ash, sand and cement for making bricks. Fly ash is sourced from Jindal Power Plant, Jajpur, almost free of cost. Sand is sourced from the river located at a distance of two to three km. He has produced 1 lakh bricks prior to the monsoon season. He is satisfied with TARA Machines fly ash technology, the quality of services and also MechRam-MX machine package. Mr. Rout is in the reputed business of running a four wheeler repairing workshop. In addition, he is a building contractor for a long time. He has shown keen interest in TARA fly ash technology from its initial days in the State. His interest in the product developed mainly on account of power savings, less human power requirement and quality products. Investing into the waste utilisation TARA fly ash technology has consolidated his position in the market due to better product quality and increased margins from higher realisation. He uses produce of his enterprise in his own construction work too. He has strategically set up the enterprise at Jajpur keeping the TATA project in mind. His analysis shows that the requirement for fly ash bricks will increase in the times to come. Its common knowledge that Jajpur is increasingly becoming the favourite location of the builders. The future of Mr. Rout looks bright as he plans to expand the production capacity of Hara Chandi to 50 lakh bricks per annum with TARA MechRam-MX technology. q
