Development Solutions Branch (DSB)

 
 


l In The Community Led Assessment, Awareness, Advocacy and Action Programme for Environment Protection (CLAP) for Hiamchal Pradesh, assessment of pilot projects were conducted along with partner implementation agencies, in the districts of Kangra and Chamba. Also Enviro-carbon assessments of 14 panchayats have been completed so far across eight districts in Himachal Pradesh.

l DA has been selected for the Preparation of integrated micro plan under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) from Government of Madhya Pradesh for Tikamgarh district. 

l DA team also received the Best poster award at the Model watershed (supported by ICRISAT) Government of India and annual review was organised in Indore from 20 to 22 April).  
 

 

 

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)

 
 


l At least 40 students participated in the course on Development Management for the students of Aravali Institute of Management, Jodhpur. The course was conducted for seven days from 27 March to 2 April 2011.

l Almost 18 participants from nearby villages took part in another training programme, Graduate Entrepreneurship Training (GET-IT). The training was arranged for three days at TARAgram, Pahuj from 6 to 8 April.

l A Community Training Centre was inaugurated on 13 April at Village Domagor under Pahuj cluster.
 

 
 

Innovation Systems Branch (ISB)

 
 


l DA celebrated the World Water Day on 22 March to 25 March, in Bhanwar Singh camp, Kusumpur Pahari and Yamuna slums of Delhi in collaboration with partner NGOs Ehsaas Foundation and the Indian Society for Applied Research and Development (ISARD) respectively. The event was meant to create awareness on water preservation.

l Experiences from different projects were shared during a workshop conducted by DA on the provision of safe drinking water through Household Water Treating System (HWTS) and SODIS on 31 March to 2 April.

TARAAkshar

l
Roughly 500 tribal women will receive education under the TARA Akshar programme. The programme will be implemented in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh with the support of the Department of Schedule Castes (SC) and Schedule Tribes (ST) Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

l Currently the TARA Ganit programme is running a training programme in Baruasagar to train masons on basic arithmetic calculations.

l
Radio Bundelkhand won the Commonwealth Education Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) Award for the promotion of rural culture on 7 April. The award was given by Ms Ambika Soni, Minister; Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

l Over 650 students from nearly 40 schools across Delhi and NCR pledged to ‘Act Green’ at the Earth Day event, organised by CLEAN-India in association with the Department of Environment, Government of Delhi on 20 April at the Nehru Memorial Museum Library, Teen Murti Bhavan.

l Approximately 150 children took part in a ShubhKal art competition organised by the Radio Bundelkhand team on the World Earth Day, held on 22 April 2011 at TARAhaat Kendra, Orchha.

l More than 50 masons participated in an exhibition organised under the SDC-SCSI project for TARA Karigar Mandal Cluster on awareness on Eco-friendly building technology at TARAgram conference Hall on 28 April. The aim was to create awareness among masons about Eco-friendly building technology.
