At BALCO, under Project SAMRIDDHI the idea of making fly ash bricks was discussed with the village development committee and the village youth. Although the raw material for making the bricks was available in the vicinity of the village, the villagers lacked the know-how and did not have the equipment to manufacture the bricks. The market tie up for the fly ash bricks was done so that the bricks may find their market in the nearby villages through NIRMAL GRAM and INDIRA AWAS yojna. At this juncture TARA provided capacity building training to 30 youth from villages living close to our ash ponds. Also, BALCO has formed 20 youth groups, who will be imparted training and provided with a TARA BALRAM to earn their livelihood in their own villages with raw materials available at their doorstep. The TARA BALRAM Fly Ash Bricks making machines have been distributed to the groups by Home Minister of Chattisgarh, Mr. Ram Vichar Netam on Jan 27, 2007

TARA Eco Kiln at Raipur has been successfully fired with bricks manufactured by TARA Brick Mech, a semi mechanized machine for moulding.  The breakage of the plant has been reduced to less than 1% compared to 10% previously.  Use of added fly ash has been possible with TARA Brick Mech.  It has been a major breakthrough in the field of mixing fly ash with clay, which is not otherwise feasible.
