ACC Ltd Partnership Project
Sustainable Community Development Programme, WADI (Karnataka)
ACC’s Wadi Cement Works has, in the previous decade, steadily built and
maintained its relationship with the neighbouring village communities.
According to its CSR policy, the company ‘seeks to actively assist in
improving the quality of life and making this (neighbouring) community
self-reliant’.
The ACC Wadi Cement Works
‘Sustainable Community Development Programme’ is an initiative that will
work towards creating Hariyali, Udyamita aur Sampannata (greenery,
entrepreneurship and well-being) around the Wadi plant.
This programme will strive to create self-reliant communities that are
moving towards accelerated socio-economic development based on
sustainable use of natural resources for their lives and livelihoods.
The programme
approach to pursue this vision is to:
·
Develop a long-term perspective for sustainable community development at
Wadi
·
Deliver short/medium term support to strengthen stakeholder engagement
and highlight ACC’s commitment
·
Demonstrate appropriate solutions for different needs of the people and
the natural environment as a means to establish mechanisms for long-term
sustainable development
