Don’t
Want A Polynnium Bomb
Found here, there and
everywhere
red, yellow, green and blue
do you need some more clues?
Yes ! It is polythene
Which makes our city unclean.
Known to be non-biodegradable
And the mess created is incredible
It gets stuck in the gutter
Chokes mother earth.
Polybags even kill cattle
Like warriors dying without a battle.
Polybags when spread over a mile
Make the whole land infertile
When burnt they give out poisonous gasses
Which may prove fatal for the masses.
This the current threat
Which is making environmentalists fret
Measures are being taken to ban polythene
And spread awareness about the alternatives
With the help of parents and teachers
Let’s pledge and say No to polythene
And help to keep our city green

Little
Rain Drops
When ever little
droplets
Fall on the earth,
They bring with them
A certain kind of fragrance
It seems as though sky has
Sent love. It sheds tears because it feels
that the earth is so
far away
from it

OPEN
PARLIAMENT: A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE
Organising the ‘Open Parliament’ at the 4th
CLEAN-India Meet was a good attempt of ‘CLEAN-India’. It provided
students, from various schools, a platform, to voice their opinions
and demonstrate their contribution for the protection of environment.
It gave us a chance to interact with students from
different parts of our country and exchange views regarding the
problems faced in our neighbourhood areas. It was good to see the
overwhelming response and concern of students towards our environment.
In these busy days, we rarely get an opportunity to question the
authorities, face to face, in order to find solutions to our problems
which otherwise keep rolling in files over years. Being part of the
open Parliament, it was really nice and encouraging to find that
atleast there is one organisation which considers students’ opinion
essential for the development of our country and which also accepts
our contribution wholehearted without any alterations, for a good
cause.

MY
EXPERIENCES WITH CLEAN-Delhi
I was in class 7 when I
was first involved with CLEAN-Delhi. At first, I hated the idea of
missing classes and sacrificing weekends for the sake of some
pollution testing which did not even concern me in anyway. But, slowly
I realised that pollution affects me directly and is probably one of
the biggest problems faced by the whole world itself.
CLEAN-Delhi gave me the opportunity to interact with the people of my
neighbourhood and my city. I came to know about the water problems in
various parts of the city. As time passed, I became one of the most
active CLEAN-Delhi members of our school. I had lots of fun going
around the city in the CLEAN van along with my friends. Along with the
CLEAN staff, we collected water samples from various places and tested
them with Nessler’s Reagent, Silver Nitrate and Ammonium etc. Tests
were performed for iterate, fluoride, hardness, turbidity and even
coliform. Infact, when I tested a sample for coliform, the whole thing
turned black indicating that the water was totally unfit for drinking
purposes finally, the testing was over, and we complied our results
and sent it to CLEAN. To my surprise each and every result of ours,
matched the results of the CLEAN experts. This was the biggest success
for all of the students from my school. CLEAN also sent us to a petrol
pump at Shri Oil Company near Mayur Vihar. Here we were assigned the
job of filling the forms for all those people who wanted to get their
2 wheelers checked for pollution. We got the fruits of all our
hardwork when we were awarded certificates and became members of
CLEAN-Delhi last year. I can never forget my association with
CLEAN-Delhi.
