l
Under the ACC Wadi's livelihood initiative 29 youth were sent to a Bangalore-based training agency called Unnati where they have been assured 100 per cent placement by the agency. The youth will receive vocational training on the subjects of their choice like hospitality, industrial painting, tailoring and driving.

l The Plant Director of ACC Wadi had personally met the youth before they left for Bangalore.

l Under Arghyam, a solar pump has been commissioned in village Pipra and has become fully functional. It has been able to address to the clean water needs of the village.

l A training programme for 60 farmers on efficient irrigation practices organised on 28-29 December.

l A session on Climate change and forest preservation delivered among 72 forest officers of MP on 26th December.

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)

l The Training of Trainers (TOT) programme under HP-LIFE project complete

l Training on soft toys making under MEDP, NABARD Jhansi at Village Dhikoli complete.

l Training on artificial jewelry under MEDP, NABARD Jhansi at Village Rampura inaugurated

l JAICA funded training under UP Forest Department, fourth batch completed; fifth batch will begin from 3-12 January 2011.

l The first regional DST workshop on Capacity Building of women in Habitat sector was held on 15 December at TARAgram Orchha to share policy note of India Water Partnership (IWP) with the partner organisations (Darshana Mahila Kalyan Samiti, M.P. and Unnati, Rajasthan).

l DA in association with India Water Partnership (IWP) organises a workshop on Integrated Domestic Water Management (IDWM) on 23rd December at TARA Nirman Kendra, Ghittorni. The policy note developed on IDWM via DA’s field experiences and case study documentation shared.

TARA Paper

l
TARA Paper participate in an exhibition cum sale organised by "Cohands" ( Council of handicrafts development corporations) called SHILPIHAAT held at Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhavan New Delhi from 26 December 2010 to 2 January 2011.

TARAhaat

l
The TARA Akshar+ programme supported by MoHRD, Govt. of India under Saakshar Bharat Mission 2010 has also begun a pilot evaluation at Kohand village in Karnal district with SRC-Haryana. The programme will train 35 rural women in 45 days time.

l TARAhaat has developed a new multimedia interactive CD titled ‘Access to Entitlement’. The CD is having information on Fundamental rights, Right to Information act, maternity benefit, child labour, child marriage, equal remuneration act, NREGA, FIR, and National Commission for Human rights. The CD will be pilot tested and will be a part of TARA Akshar+ reading club.

The Northern Region Lok Awaas Yatra successfully took place from 6 to 10 December in partnership with Technology and Research Network, Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation, Centre for Sustainable Development, Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies. Two state trails of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh visited and documented best habitat related practices across five states and culminated into a regional seminar at Dharamsala.

The Lok Awaas Yatra Southern Region completed successfully 17th to 21st December. Three state trails of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala visited and documented best habitat related practices across three states and culminated into a regional seminar at Thiruvananthapuram.

With all regional Yatras complete, Lok Awaas Karmi Sammelan to be organised in early 2011.

DA participates in the Ministry of information and Broadcasting led National Consultation on Community Radio in India on 13 – 15 December. Support options from government and other agencies for setting up and running of community radio stations deliberated upon. Two presentations on Radio Bundelkhand Experiences and Financial Sustainability in Community Radio given by DA.
