l DA participated in a UNDP workshop it shared the results and methodology of the baseline survey conducted at the start of the project, including the strategic plan for completing the end-line survey as an example of good practices for the other project partners. Achievements in the project implementation included participation of newly trained PLWs in a Mega Lok Adalat organised by the District Legal Services Authority of Tikamgarh.

l The CLAP for Himachal programme is now operational in all 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh. Communities, CSOs and NGOs across the State are conducting assessments in their Panchayats to find the carbon footprint and are taking up awareness initiatives on environment and climate change locally.
 

 

 

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)

 
 


l
A 15-day training was conducted for presidents and secretaries of watershed committees from November 3-17 at Orchha, MP under Rajiv Gandhi Watershed Mission, Bhopal. The training had 30 participants. The second round of training, from November 28 to December 12 has started with 54 participants.

l TLA organised a 12-day Artificial Jewellary Making training from November 8-21 at TARAgram, Pahuj for 50 self help group women members under NABARD-Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP).

l TLA organised a 12-day Soft Toys Making training at village Bhojla for 40 self help group women members November 18 to December 2 under NABARD-MEDP.

l DA theory and practical test was conducted for 75 masons and 15 supervisors of Tara Karigar Mandal (TKM) during TARAgram mela in Orchha on November 23. This test was conducted under FEM-eco housing project to check their skills in eco-friendly technologies. Re-registration of these masons and supervisors was done and new ID cards were issued.

l One-day workshop was conducted by DA on November 4 with project partners Darshan Mahila Kalyan Samiti and Unnati, at Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh. The project was titled “Women in Habitat” funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The objective of the workshop was to build the capacity of rural women to become entrepreneurs and assess the progress of the project.

l DA-TARA facilitated a session on ‘Business of Eco-Affordable Housing’ organised by the Khemka Forum for Social Entrepreneurship and FEM-Italia at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad on November 18.

l
basin-South Asia collaborated with HUDCO for Buildtech 2011. As a part of the collaboration five partners from SAARC countries shared their experiences and achievements on energy efficient and alternate technologies in eco-habitat sector in their respective countries. A stall was put up from November 14-27.

l Field visits to Orchha were organised for 11 IUCN councilors from November 17-19.
 

 
 

India’s first Rural Reality Show on community radio was launched on September 27. Updates
l Rural Reality Show for catalysing large scale climate change adaptation
l 187 groups have filled their nomination forms to participate in the competition
l Preliminary round of the show was started on November 7.  In this round, each group has to adopt any environmentally friendly activity by their own.  Based on adopted activity first round of elimination took place.
l On November 14 and November 23, events were organised for the participants of zone 1 and zone 2 to explain their activity. A panel of judges selected 16 groups out of 52 who participated in events.
