    Based in New Delhi, India, Planning and Policy Domain (PPD) of DA Group has a mandate to influence and support public policy in the transition towards sustainable development by connecting practice with policy. It develops innovative policy and practice oriented research to guide policymakers and domestic/international leaders, who develop high-impact policies that will address our national/worldwide most pressing Natural Resource Management/ Climate change related challenges. Our focus area are Sustainable Consumption & Production (water, green building material and waste management), Climate Change Resilience (Climate Change Adaptation : Water/Agriculture, Climate Finance & SDG-CC Inter Linkages) AND Inclusive Development (Agriculture and FPOs, Access to Housing, Eco-Tourism, Green MSMEs and Jobs, Equity and Res. Efficiency)

    Through this advertisement, DA Group is looking for a GIS anchor for Natural Resource Management Thematic area of the organization and specifically providing GIS and Data Solutions to other verticals. Meaning to act as an anchor for MIS- GIS data integration for entire DA group & conduct baseline research and development of prototype maps of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

    Types of tasks may include: Mapping of climate risks, Watershed mapping, Interactive web-based application, Market outreach mapping, develop eco-tourism maps, Hotspot mapping. Apart from this, assist in partnerships and network building, and support in capacity building.

    This will involve:

    1. Coordinate mapping for development of Land Use Land Cover (LULC) maps

    2. Creating shapefiles, rasters, converting polygon to raster and vice versa

    3. Developing digital elevation models for different areas

    4. Decoding errors in python using software

    Desirable Attributes:

    Technical Skills :

    1. Experience in using Google Earth, arcGIS/Q-GIS.

    The recruit will be a senior member of the Sustainable Enterprise Domain (SED) of Development Alternatives Group. The work done by Development Alternatives is divided under 5 functional domains (departments), basis the kind of projects/ programmes undertaken by the particular domain. The Sustainable Enterprise Domain, works in area of building socially relevant enterprise solutions for local economic development and job creation. Over the last two decades due to focused work on this particular area, the DA group has been able to facilitate the development of 8,500 micro enterprises with youth, women and farmers creating over 50,000 jobs. The SED domain caters to sectors that create livelihood opportunities in agriculture and rural services, enhance the quality of like (water and energy based) and promote environmental sustainability (green building materials and waste utilization). The Sustainable Enterprise Domain is also currently incubating IMEDF (Indian Micro Enterprises Development Foundation), the Special Purpose Vehicle of the DA group. Set up with an aim to boost an ecosystem for green and inclusive entrepreneurship, IMEDF promotes and support enterprise models through transfer and adaptation of innovative technology based business models, provision of credit and finance linkages for entrepreneurs, capacity building for business management through technical skill building for business planning and operations, integration and mainstreaming of product and services into the local and extended market channels and collaborate with institutions to create an ecosystem promoting cluster development across India. Given the background the incumbent will be responsible for the following work areas who will be reporting to the domain lead -

    • Business Strategy and Communication of Sustainable Enterprise Vertical and IMEDF (Indian Micro Enterprise Development Foundation).
    • Responsible for building strategic partnerships to develop programmatic approach for the existing initiatives of the domain.
    • Ensuring high quality of the proposals for the cluster development initiative of IMEDF.
    • Managing relationship with external stakeholders involved in value chain development of the clusters (Central and state governments, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), technology providers, procurers, sellers, exporters etc.).
    • Setting up of internal processes and systems, for financial management of the clusters, and other large projects under the purview of the domain.

    NOTE on Development Action Domain (DAD) :

    Development Action Domain works on catalyzing transformation in clusters for excellence through the implementation of projects. The domain works in three verticals – capacity building and creating awareness, infrastructure development and providing solution and work as Project Management Unit in the field of capacity building, creating awareness, infrastructure development, and providing solutions. Main activities in the domain are centered around content development and knowledge packaging, project execution, partnership development, and programme development through research, assessment and business development. Domain implements its projects through direct implementation, and/or through partners and at times this happens through a project management approach.More precisely the ongoing projects are related to areas of skilling, upskilling (through bridging information gap, vocational training, ensuring livelihood connects), imparting functional literacy and numeracy to women (through TARA Akhsar+ - one of the flagship programme of DA), aspiration building of adolescent girls and boys, waste related awareness and its management, WASH-related awareness and infrastructure development, enhancing income of farmers through sustainable agriculture, water conservation and WASTE management and so on. The domain also works on standardization of implementation protocols of different interventions. The work in the domain gives ample opportunity to do project execution, get field learnings, do partnership and stakeholder management, develop tools, formats, training content, conduct training courses and prepare reports, develop proposals and generate funds.

    The fellowship programme at Development Alternatives has been designed to hone up the skills of young persons and give shape to their ideas about the social sector, before they launch themselves on a well-defined career choice. It is a one year long open ended programme commencing on the 01st of every month throughout the year.
