Between the Lines

The Work4Progress programme aims to create a culture of entrepreneurship in rural communities of India. Central to the programme’s journey are the youth, men, and women entrepreneurs who are the job creators and change makers. Each of them has a unique story to tell. Their 'stories of change' and spirit of entrepreneurship inspire and guide all those who encounter them – creating positive shifts in local narratives. ‘Between the Lines’ encapsulates the journey of some of these entrepreneurs.

Micromovements of Change: A Series of Social Innovation Prototypes

A series introducing seven Systemic Prototypes innovated and co-created by DA with the community. These prototypes are driving shifts in the system towards entrepreneurship-led job creation at the grassroots level.

Building Sustainable Communities

This photobook takes you through the journey of the 'Integrated Village Socio-Economic Development in Central India' project, undertaken as a joint initiative between Development Alternatives and "la Caixa" Banking Foundation. The project was undertaken to enable the development of progressive and sustainable villages that embody the three pillars of sustainable development - economic, social, and environmental wellbeing in Bundelkhand. This project envisioned transforming the lives of 600 vulnerable households from three village communities of the Tikamgarh district of Bundelkhand.

Around 46% of the youth in India never recovered from job loss during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sachin Srivastava, 23, is leveraging the power of e-commerce to scale his business from a small village in Bundelkhand to all around the world. Sachin is scaling his business through four e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Meesho, Flipkart, and Etsy. Through the power of #SAMUDYAM or #InclusiveEntrepreneurship, Development Alternatives is enabling many more such as Sachin to access entrepreneurship opportunities and create everyday micromovements of change.
