DA Group’s Technology and Action for Rural Advancement (TARA) has collaborated with Godrej Interio for imparting skills to the men and women of Bhagwanpur (Uttarakhand). The objective is to create livelihoods by increasing the Employability Quotient and improving lives of communities around Godrej Interio’s plant location. As a part of the Project, Godrej Disha Livelihood Academy established at Bhagwanpur was inaugurated by Mr. Zurvan Marolia, Head – Supply Chain, HQ Mumbai. Mr. Zurvan addressed the gathering and wished success of the training programme and motivated the participants for setting up their own enterprises. Mr. Subroto Roy, Chief General Manager – TARA Livelihood Academy, encouraged the participants of the training to think more creatively, have aspirations and gain the maximum out of the program.

Publication People’s Agenda for Development for Uttar Pradesh On 12th January 2017, Development Alternatives organised a day long grassroots level consultation on ‘Economic Transitions towards Sustainable Development for India’ in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh along with local partner Poorvanchal Gramin Vikas Sansathan (PGVS). The objective of this consultation was to build a shared national narrative on India’s transition to a new, just and green economy. The basic premise of a green, fair and transparent economy is that there can be ways to eradicate poverty and foster sustainable development without harming the environment. This consultation was used to create a ‘People’s Agenda for Development for Uttar Pradesh’ which lays down citizens demands from their leaders and calls for policy actions geared towards creating greater environmental and social sustainability within our current economic paradigm. This consultation was attended by noted civil society members from the state of Uttar Pradesh including, Action Aid India, Centre for Environment Education, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), EduSportsm, Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG), NABARD among others. The 18th trialogue 2047 took place on 28th December, 2016 on ‘Builder, Thinker, Visionary: Celebrating the Philosophy and Practice of Laurie Baker’ at India International Centre, New Delhi. The trialogue 2047 strived to celebrate the life of Laurie Baker and his profound impact on global and national economic discourse on the eve of his birth centenary. The three eminent speakers were Padma Bhushan Dr. Abhijit Sen, Former Professor, JNU; Padma Shri Gopalan Nair Shankar, Founder, Habitat Technology Group; and Dr. Pronab Sen, Country Director, International Growth Centre. The discussions focussed on what role can the Indian civil society play in ensuring that Laurie Baker’s ideals remain relevant and how can the civil society do justice to what he stood for. Bundelkhand Knowledge Platform (BKP) is a network civil society organisations, agricultural scientists, practitioners, academicians, researchers and knowledge communication specialists on climate change. BKP in collaboration with DA, Indian Grassland and Fodder Institute (IGFRI) and Central Agroforestry Research Institute (CAFRI) organised a knowledge and experience sharing workshop on managing climate resilient agricultural practices and technologies on 22nd December, 2016 in Jhansi. The main objectives of the workshop were to bring members of the platform under one roof and discuss and share knowledge on current situation related to climate resilient agricultural practices and technologies. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. O P Chaturvedi, Director, CAFRI and Dr. P K Ghosh, Director, IGFRI. More than 80 participants from IGFRI, CAFRI, District Horticulture Department, NABARD, State Bank of India, etc. attended the workshop.
A Joint Project Management and Implementation Committee (PMIC) meeting of Farmer Producer Organisations Project was held at TARAgram Pahuj on January 13, 2017. In the meeting Mr. Ajay Soni, DDM, NABARD Jhansi chaired the session. Dr. S. N. Pandey, Senior Programme Director, DA, Mr. Lal Sab, representative of Lead Bank District Manager, Jhansi and professionals of Development Alternatives participated in the meeting along with 4 implementation agencies of FPO project of Jhansi district. The objective of the meeting was to review the status of Farmers Producer Organisation (FPOs) in Jhansi district. 
Follow the Liters’ is a campaign launched by Vestergaard Frandsen in which Lifestraw community Filters are installed in schools to provide school children access to safe drinking water and also sensitise them about WASH components. DA team members visited the schools in the 2nd week of January, 2017. More than 200 WASH Ambassadors were selected across 33 schools. The Ambassadors were provided training on WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). The Ambassadors guide other students in inculcating healthy habits and also spread the message in the community. WASH toolkits and Pamphlets were also distributed to serve as an aid to these change agents.
On 23rd January, 2017, Pitambara Farmer Producer Organisation (Datia) and Mangal Farmer Producer Organisation (Sewada) members went for an exposure visit to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Datia. Dr. Savita Kumari and Dr. Awadesh Singh from Krishi Vigyan Kendra took sessions on scientific farming techniques, soil quality, importance of soil testing, vegetable cropping, etc. The FPOs gained a lot of practical knowledge and were also encouraged to increase the membership of the organisation. 
Meeting of women farmers was conducted in Behta village on January 26, 2017. The objective of the meeting was to encourage women farmers to become shareholders into the Udita Producer Company Limited, supported by DA. In the meeting, discussion was held on the business operations of Farmer Producer Organisations, that is, milk selling and supply of animal feed supplement. Shobhit Singh and Mahua Tripathy from DA gave a brief orientation to women farmers on the role of FPO in farmer's life. Around 38 women farmers actively participated in discussion.
