TARA NIRMAN KENDRAs (TNKs) are the building centers of the Development Alternatives Group. The focus of this group is to promote alternatives, and ensure the transfer of low carbon technologies from "lab to land".
The TARA Nirman Kendra at Delhi and the Grameen Nirman Kendra at Orchha (Madhya Pradesh) are responsible for the delivery of shelter products and services of the DA group. They promote the use of sustainable building materials and provide building solutions to a diverse range of private and institutional clients in Delhi and Bundelkhand regions. TNK also has field units in Gujarat, Orissa and other states.

TNK’s are staffed by an able team of architects, engineers, civil supervisors, masons and artisans. Their job is to apply innovative technologies, materials and building systems that are low cost and environment friendly. The TNK also serve as demonstration units and have facilities for testing building materials.
TNK pays special attention to region specific applications and innovations of building systems and has pioneered the following

TNK’s services extend to other parts of the country as several other HUDCO supported building centers and medium scale construction companies adopt the technologies and construction systems promoted by TNK. To such partners, TNK offers comprehensive technology transfer, training and technical support packages.
TNKs take regular part in construction related exhibitions, all over the country. The efforts to disseminate information are further aided with direct links to professionals in the construction industry (architects, engineers, consultants, corporates, institutions and practitioners).
With regularly published articles and brochures, TNKs have also built various demonstration sites all over India. The three TNKs mention above also provide " on site"training programs dealing with production and use of appropriate building units, and improved construction techniques. They are available to everybody, from professionals, to students and masons. These programs are undoubtedly most important for the spread and successful application of effective building technologies.
