ACHIEVEMENTS
TNK has established close ties with BMTPC, the apex national body for promotion of alternate building materials and HUDCO, a government body to promote sustainable habitat development across India. These partnerships have substantially enhanced technology development and production capacities of TNK.
TNK’s spread has increased from 4-5 kms to more than 100 kms around TNK production units. Technology support has been provided in projects executed all over India.
The market chain towards lower income segments has been continuously expanded via local entrepreneurs and franchisees, industry partners and government projects. In the past years, TNK’s portfolio ranged from residential to institutional customers.
Portfolio development
TNK has enhanced its product portfolio by 15 new products and services in last 5 years. In 2007-08, TNK added a new revenue stream of green building consultancy.
Awards and recognitions
TNK has bagged the following awards:
Sri M. Viswesvaraya award (1995) for Micro Concrete Roofing technology by Housing and Urban development Corporation (HUDCO) and Hari Om Ashram Trust, Gujarat
United Nations- Habitat Dubai Best practices award (2002) - for its role as the technical partner with CARE -India in Orissa Cyclone Reconstruction Programme
Social Impact
TNK has contributed to construction worth 35 million USD since its inception.
It has provided safe and durable houses to around 250,000 people and, in the process, imparted building skills to around 3000 people.
Environmental Impact
TNK has contributed to an overall reduction in carbon emissions by at least 200,000 tonnes. It has also utilized industrial waste like Flyash and stone crusher dust, weighing at least 1.5 million tonnes.
Technological impact on lifestyles
TNK has been improving quality of life for low and middle income households by providing options for durable and safe housing and enabling basic amenities since 1989. TNK has contributed to construction worth 35 million USD which includes solutions for walling, roofing, sanitation and water.
