Development Solutions Branch (DSB)

 
 
  • DSB conducted a two-day residential training programme on Gender Sensitisation from at TARAgram Orchha. Two participants from each Sangini Gender Resource Centre, Bihar, Bundelkhand professionals and Civil Society Organisation partners attended the training.
     

  • Ground water level (well) data assessment started on July 1. Data for three villages - Noner, Chopra and Govindnagar has been collected so far.
     

  • An order has been released for planting 4600 saplings on community land in Dhikoli & Nayakhera and 1500 on the Gram Panchayat land in Domagour.

 

 

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)

 
 
  • TLA conducted seven-day immersion programme for the students of PGDM-Sustainable Development Practice of Birla Institute of Management Technology, Noida.
     

  • A ten-day training on "Livelihood Security Enhancement and Income Generation Activities" was conducted for 21 participants at TARAgram, Orchha for NGO Support Organisation(NSO) and Partner NGO (PNGO) functionaries under the Uttar Pradesh Participatory Forest Management and Poverty Alleviation Project, funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

 
 

Innovation Systems Branch (ISB)

 
 
  • The End of Phase Report for the project "Sustainable Civil Society Initiatives to Address Global Environmental Challenges" supported by The Embassy of Switzerland in India has been readied and given to the funder.
     

  • Development Alternatives is working on household water treatment methods in 17 Delhi slums through it SODIS Project. The project promotes solar disinfection of water.  Presently the focus is on advocacy and awareness. This is to increase visibility and up scaling of this methodology through different stakeholders.
     

  • The IDRC research project exploring the potential of the mutual reinforcing role of women in habitat-based services is completed and the findings have been fed to the Gender and Innovation Knowledge Platform Network.
     

  • FEM Project, Affordable green habitat for rural people, has moved to its second phase and based on Development Alternatives learning and experience, it is being rolled out with the Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojna being, implemented for BPL households in the Madhya Pradesh region of Bundelkhand.

 
  Communication Solutions Branch (CSB)  
 
  • Development Alternatives group has been nominated as a member for the sub working group on Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) and Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) for the XII Five Year Plan.
     

  • CSB organised a Capacity Building Training for Radio Reporters on July 15-16 at TARAgram Orchha. By trainers from TRACK ONE Communication. The objective was to improve the reporting skills of the community reporters and enhance the quality of programmes.
     

  • Advocacy for safe drinking water by SODIS technology was conducted in 20 NGOs across Delhi. The objective was to create awareness for clean drinking water no cost.
